Terra Lightfoot to engage youth at songwriting workshop ahead of her appearance with Donovan Woods at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.

The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is proud to welcome Hamilton-based Terra Lightfoot for a special one-time-only HOT TICKET double-bill with 2017 JUNO nominee, Donovan Woods in Partridge Hall on Friday 24 March at 7:30pm.

Before she takes the stage in Partridge Hall, Lightfoot will lead a songwriting workshop (sponsored by Long & McQuade) at Laura Secord Secondary School. This workshop will focus on song craft, music concepts and songwriting.  Student participants will range from instrumentalists to members of the Laura Secord choir.

Terra Lightfoot’s rapport with children and youth is longstanding and legendary — she loves helping young people shine. She taught guitar for many years at Dundas Valley Montessori School, and is actively engaged in youth outreach through YWCA Hamilton. In 2015, Terra teamed up with JUNO-winning Hamiltonians Steve Strongman and Tomi Swick to lead a songwriting workshop for local secondary school students participating in Arts and Culture specialist programs. She was part of 2016’s Welcome to Hamilton benefit concert (which featured performances by The National, Hayden, Kevin Drew, Max Kerman of Arkells and more) which raised funds for music, arts and recreation programs for newcomer youth, and participated in community outreach to Longfellow House, the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City, MO while playing Folk Alliance International 2017.

Since the release of her acclaimed album Every Time My Mind Runs Wild, soulful roots rocker Terra Lightfoot has wowed audiences across North America, the UK and Europe, playing hundreds of live dates in venues from cafés to coliseums and everywhere in between. Lightfoot has been named the latest recipient of the Canadian Independent Music Association’s prestigious Road Gold certification — an honour reserved for artists who sell at least 25,000 concert tickets within a 12-month period.

Every Time My Mind Runs Wild… has launched her from hometown-hero status onto national radio playlists.” – Maclean’s Magazine.

“…a roots rocker with a powerful voice and a badass Gibson SG that she plays with consummate ease… she could be your new rock ‘n’ roll hero. Drawing from rock, soul and blues, [Terra Lightfoot] is a monster talent that will be gracing the world’s largest festival stages in no time.” – PopMatters

Don’t miss your chance to experience this unique co-headlining bill featuring Terra Lightfoot and Donovan Woods, two equally gifted songwriters in Partridge Hall on Friday 24 March at 7:30pm.
