For the 23rd annual Bard’s Bus Tour of Ontario, Driftwood Theatre presents Shakespeare’s Othello. This distinctly Canadian production will be showcased in the Mann Raceway Plaza on Thursday 21 July at 7:30pm.
William Shakespeare’s blistering tale of race, jealousy and revenge is set against the backdrop of Canadian history, when in 1974 Canadian soldiers are caught in a life or death struggle on the small island of Cyprus. This will be a pay-what-you-can (PWYC) performance ($20 suggested), advance tickets are not required. Please bring blankets or lawn chairs. The play will go on rain or shine. In addition to the live theatre, FIXT POINT’s The Cyprus Project (in partnership with Driftwood Theatre) features individual stories surrounding the Cyprus war of 1974. Four audio installations will be available for listening prior to the play, beginning at 6:30pm.
