The Pen Centre’s 5,000 parking spaces will soon be packed on weekends leading up to Christmas. Opened in 1958, this St. Catharines fixture remains the largest mall in the Niagara Region with over one million square feet of floor space. With an excellent location next to Highway 406, it features over 180 stores, major department stores, a supermarket, a ten-screen movie-plex, and several large format anchors.

Sears, of course, is leaving, but Hudson’s Bay (150,688 sq ft.) and Zehrs (59,908 sq ft.) remain quite busy as well as the Landmark Cinemas (48,888 sq ft.). Other favourites include Winners (28,476 sq ft.), HomeSense (24,799 sq ft.), Sport Chek (23,245 sq ft.), Old Navy (15,665 sq ft.), and H&M (18,196 sq ft.)

The Pen’s newest stores include Aerie, American Eagle, Bridges for Autism, Calendar Club, City Shades, DAVIDsTEA, Exotic Imports, go! toys & games, Griffin Jewellery Designs, Hickory Farms, Lindsay’s Gourmet Compound Butter, Michael Hill Jeweller, Mobile Klinik, Ortho Center, Rolly Polly Cow Ice Creamery, Shumaker, Starbucks, Sunrise Records, Things Engraved, Tiz The Season Gift Baskets, Tiz The Season Giftware, Urban Kids and Wireless +. With ample indoor space, the Pen Centre plays host to numerous community events such as these Christmas happenings ‒ Christmas School Choirfest, Dec 11-15, Event Court – 11 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. Beautiful songs from over 600 Niagara area school children in Niagara’s Christmas Elementary School Choir program.  Each weekday, various school choirs perform. The Caravan Group will be set-up to take donations and also at City Hall at the corner of James Street and Church Street. The Pen Centre’s Christmas Angel Sleigh Toy Drive, Dec 1 – Dec 27. Purchase a new, unwrapped toy and bring it to Guest Services. They will place it in the Pen Centre Angel Sleigh for delivery to Community Care. For over 23 years, the Pen Centre Angel Sleigh Toy Drive has made over 7,200 Community Care Kids’ wishes come true on Christmas morning.

Charity Christmas Gift Wrap Lounge By Penstation, Dec 1 – Dec 24. Hospice Niagara and St. Catharines General Hospital Auxiliary volunteers will place the final touches on your parcels to make them look fantastic under the tree!  Cost of wrap ranges from $1 – $7, depending on size, and all proceeds go to the charities.

Hospice Niagara’s Butterfly Trees, Nov 23 – Dec 27. Honour someone special with a personalized butterfly ornament. See the holiday butterfly tree display near Guest Services. Make a donation and place your ornament on the tree. Donations to Hospice Niagara will provide comforting palliative care throughout the region.

St. Catharines & District Shrine Club – Near Melanie Lyne – Nov. 15 – Dec. 23. Yummy Shriners Christmas cakes, and chocolates on sale during mall hours.

Salvation Army Kettle Campaign – near Food Court and Event Court – Nov. 15 – Dec. 23. The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is an opportunity for the public to donate whatever funds they can to support the work of The Salvation Army. For details
